The Bay City Rollers Phenomenon

McKeown joined the Bay City Rollers in 1973, and the band quickly gained popularity in their native Scotland. However, it wasn't until a few years later that they achieved global stardom. With McKeown as their charismatic frontman, the Rollers became one of the biggest bands in the world, captivating millions of fans with their catchy pop tunes and boy-next-door image.

Hits like "Saturday Night," "Bye Bye Baby," and "Shang-a-Lang" became anthems of the era, and the band's concerts were often chaotic affairs, with fans screaming and fainting. McKeown's role in this phenomenon was undeniable, as his energetic performances and powerful vocals ignited the crowd.

In later years, McKeown became increasingly open about the challenges he faced during and after his time with the Bay City Rollers. He struggled with drug addiction and financial difficulties, and his personal life was often tumultuous. However, he also spoke candidly about his love for music and his gratitude for the experiences he had.
